N.E.S.T. recently received a grant of $8,800 from the Outer Banks Community Foundation to purchase two (yes two!) new ATVs for sea turtle beach patrol. Every day at dawn from May 16th to August 31st, N.E.S.T. ATV riders patrol the 50 miles of beach from South Nags Head to the Virginia line looking for signs of sea turtle nests. Our fleet of seven ATVs gets hit hard by salt and sand and need to be replaced on average every five years. This year we needed to replace two ATVs and the Community Foundation came to the rescue. Thank you Outer Banks Community Foundation!!!
