August has kept us busy – nest sitting, excavations, dodging summer lightening, etc. but it has proven very successful. So far Nests 1-8 have all been completed and so far nearly 550 hatchlings are on their way to the gulf stream!
About half our nests have given us a warning with a sink hole before emerging and half have just up an gone! Most nests have been emerging between 55 and 60 days and the clutch size has averaged right around 100.
Our next batch of nests are getting ready for sitting season and we hope to get off another strong group before hurricane season is upon us!
