Thanks to the quick action of Supervisor Dave Elder and his crew of the Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue, an undiscovered Loggerhead sea turtle nest was quickly reported to the N.E.S.T. hotline and measures were taken to protect the emerging turtles and the sea turtle nest area.
Upon the arrival of the N.E.S.T. response team, Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue continued to assist by providing crowd control and beach umbrellas for shade to the emerging sea turtles.
Because of the assistance of the KDH Ocean Rescue team over 67 little Loggerhead turtles were able to make it to the ocean to begin their life’s journey. SALUTE!
