11/09/11 Emily McGovern, a young girl visiting OBX, found a listless, 3.6 lb. Kemp’s ridley on the beach in Southern Shores. Her family called the N.E.S.T. Hotline and when volunteer Marilyn Seal arrived to take the little Kemp’s to the animal clinic, Emily requested that we name him/her Buster. And that is how our Rehab was able to help this little turtle become healthy enough to be released in the Gulf Stream 1/31/12.
4/09/12 Emily visited our Rehab facility to meet our current patients, green sea turtles Fanny and Frankie, as well as learn more about how we care for them. Emily took photos to show her friends and classmates. She is preparing to celebrate her 12th birthday and is asking her friends to make donations to N.E.S.T. in lieu of gifts. Thank you, Emily, from Buster and N.E.S.T.
