The Education Team began its Spring Education Programs sharing information about
N.E.S.T. and the impact cast off debris has on our sea turtles with the Nags Head Elementary Green Team. After 2 days at The Currituck Master Gardeners Flower Show we were off to participate with Kitty Hawk Elementary Green Team for the movies ‘Bag It’ and ‘Walle’ and hit the road for IBM’s Bring your Child to Work Day in Raleigh. We finished off April with the Earth Day celebration at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island and the Outdoors Day at Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education in Corolla.

Stokesdale Elementary School 4th Grade Class of 2011 (near Greensboro, NC) studied Sea Turtles with the help of the N.E.S.T. Education Committee. They visited in April and presented a check for $207.43 to be used to create bookmarks with a list of do’s and don’ts on our beaches. They also provided pictures for our website and grocery bags that had been decorated with their sea turtle art work. Miss Turtle Lady (Jackie O) was a special guest.

Take a look at the Turtle Artwork submitted by Grace, Hannah and Zoe from Stokesdale Elementary School. Good Job! Keep coloring and keep sending them in.
