Hooray for Duck’s first nest of the season!
It was a lovely Sunday morning when an Ocean Rescue lifeguard spotted this crawl on the beach! The N.E.S.T. hotline was notified and a nesting response team was quickly mobilized including a surprise guest appearance from a cute little boy some of you may know!
With lots of excitement and enthusiasm, the team started to collect their data and the dig for eggs began! The eggs were found which was a given since our fearless leader KC was there to guide us!
If you haven’t figured out already who our surprise guest was then look no further because he is photographed below! Most of our N.E.S.T. volunteers recognize this sea turtle loving volunteer and are so happy to see him when Mom can bring him along.
Many say that he could probably run the show but he still has lots to learn from his momma KC however, so far as you can see he is doing pretty well at being a good supervisor!
After the data logger was placed into the nest and well wishes were given, the team worked together to cover and mark off the nest! It was great to see some of our NEST Jr. volunteers able to help and get in on the action of helping to mark off the nest.
Now that the nest is marked off beautifully you know what comes next…………..TEAM PICTURE!
